Hello. I am researching the McDaniel/McDannold/McDannel clan in America. The "stomping grounds" in the 19th century were in Washington and Iowa and Kansas. Any WA or KS or IA McDaniel descendants out there?

Hi: My ancestors started with a Mary Ann McDaniels (Polly Ann) who married Tasker Washington Tosh in Tennessee and they moved to Texas County, MO. Her father was John McDaniel and he married an Indian Princess - Cherokee. This was about 1855 - Polly was born in 1837 in Cumberland Hieghts, Tenn. Does this sound like it is some of your Clan too?

Hi and thanks for the reply. Genealogy is never easy so it is extremely helpful to have others with whom one can exchange information. My husband is a McDaniel but not a descendant of "your" McDaniel line. There is a good genealogy on One Great Family on the Cherokee line of descent leading to Mary Ann McDaniel. That descebdabct abd the rest of your line is in a number of places elsewhere on the internet...I will be happy to fill you share it with you if you don't subscribe to various genealogy nets. My husband's line starts in America with Alexander McDannold/McDannald/McDaniel, born about 1745 in Aberdeen, Scotland (we have as yet not absolutely proven info on several generations preceeding him). On 12 Dec 1720 in West or old Parish, Greenock, Renfrow, Scotland, he married Isabelle McLaughlin, who was born in Aberdeen. Alexander fought for Charles Stuart at Prestonpas and Culloden and was deported to Virginia in 1746 after Culloden. Alexander died in 1783 in Culpepper County, VA. The old saying is true that everyone who can trace their family back at least 4 generations in America is probably somehow related. My ancestry intersects with my husband's in Montgomery County, KY, when Phebe Ellis married Reuben McDannald (son of Alexander and Isabelle) in 1790. I would enjoy exchanging information with you and other McDaniel(s) in America to share and gather anecdotal history, make connections, etc.

Greetings,
My name is Ryan McDaniel, son of Larry, son of Raymond, son of Lilburn (sometimes Lylburn), son of James, son Jesse who was born in Scotland in 1809. James was born in Ohio in 1836 (or maybe 37) and moved to Indiana. From Lilburn on down we have lived in Illinois.
Anyone out there a part of or know anything about my line of the McDaniel family?

Their son James was born 2-28-1835 Preble Co., O. He married Nancy Jane Allender 1857 Rush Co., In. Their son Lylburn was born 3-30-1876 Arcola, Il. He married Jennie Hoots 1901 Tuscola, Il. Lylburn died 1-5-1933 & is buried Humbolt Cem., Alton, Il. James is My gr-grandfather. Hope there is something here that helps. Carole Davis

I wonder if our lines might be connected. My great-great grandfather was John P. McDaniel (b. 1837- Tennessee). He married Arispa Stanley (b. 1845 - Missouri). John P. McDaniel's father was born in Tennessee, his mother was born in South Carolina. As of this date, I don't have their names. According to family stories, somebody married a Cherokee woman, but we haven't traced that yet either. Also, the name McDaniel was changed from MacDonald before the person or family moved to the colonies. I don't even know yet when the emigration took place. I am anxious to obtain any information on this part of my family line. Thank you for any help.

My great grandmother was Mary Ann McDaniel who married James William Jones, in Kentucky. They had 14 children. They are from Warren, Graves and Calloway Counties. My husbands parents are from Scotland. They came here in 1925! I have done lots of research into the Jones' side of the family. Mary Ann McDaniel was born Sept 15, 1859. Any relatives out there?

My husband is descended from Alexander McDannold as well. In our line, the one as yet not absolutely documented and proven connection is Henry Crockett McDannold who married Amanda Jane Richardson. He was the son of John Ellis McDannold and Elizabeth Crockett Iles. John Ellis McDannold was the son of Reuben McDannold (son of Alexander McDannold of 1745) and Phoebe Ellis. Elizabeth Crockett Iles McDannold moved from KY to IL with five children, only four of whom have so far been found named in the records (not including Henry Crockett McDannold) . All the circumstantial evidence is there. Anyone who can prove that Henry was the son of John and Elizabeth will get a big prize!!

I have a copy of my family tree which dates back to late 1700's beginning with Thomas McDaniel, who came from Ireland. The family found their way to Kentucky shortly thereafter. I can look it over for names if anyone needs help. My email is: tmcdaniel@huff.com

Hi, Tony. A generous offer! Would you please look for the following surnames in your tree:
Iles, Ford, Foster, Wheeler, Jacques, Jeans, Jewett/Juett/Jouet, Ellis, Carr.
The following people are of great interest to me:
Elizabeth Crockett Iles who married John Ellis McDannold (often spelled McDaniel) in Bath Co, KY. They had Parthenia McDannold in 1823, Thomas Iles McDannold III in 1826, Reuben McDannold in 1831, Henry Crockett McDannold in 1831, and John C. (probabably either Crockett or Carr) McDannold in 1832.
Thanks so much, Tony!
